Good morning friends! Well, as always I just completed a great workout and am feeling full of ENERGY and ready to take on the day...100 degree+ weather and all!
I just want to take the time to tell all of you to take some time today to do something ACTIVE and positive for your health and fitness. You don't have to spend HOURS in the gym today....even if it's for only 10 minutes, take the time to stretch your neck, calves, hamstrings. Roll your shoulders back and forth while breathing a deep sigh of relief. ANYTHING...walking for 10 minutes today, doing laundry (fun, huh?!), rolling a ball back and forth on the floor with your kid(s), swim a couple laps in your pool, dance to your favorite songs on your ipod, do ab crunches during the commercial of your favorite show (instead of fast forwarding on your dvr)....JUST MOVE!
I wish you all a very HAPPY, HEALTHY day and will see you back here next week to answer any BURNING fitness questions you FABULOUS Blog Followers may have.
Thanks for stopping by and for your continuous support! Follow me on twitter @FITDIVAFAMISHA or check me out on Facebook for updates on my Bootcamps or for Fitness Tips of the day....and remember as I always say "FITNESS IS FUN!"

WAYS TO GET IN SHAPE THIS SUMMER!
Hi friends! Just finished a KILLER weight training workout and am getting ready to head out into the day of our usual Summer Mommy/Son fun today... Before I do so, I want to give some quick suggestions to my blog friends out there on how to STAY in shape this Summer.
Now if you live in a super HOT climate like Arizona, it's almost mandatory to be in shape because in order to stay cool you have to wear less clothing. If you're wearing LESS clothing, you want to feel good about how you look in that clothing right? So today I'll give a few Summer workout tips for you and hope you take one of them. So here you go!
If you're a "morning person" and also like being in the outdoors then you must get up early so that you don't suffer from heat stroke in the middle of the day. Especially in AZ where we are getting heat advisory warnings like EVERY DAY and it isn't even July yet! So the first fun exercise I'm going to suggest is something that my husband and I have been enjoying on our Sunday mornings which is playing tennis. Now you don't have to be the Williams sisters or whoever your FAVORITE tennis player is to get a good workout. All you need are some good tennis rackets, tennis balls and a fun attitude...oh and a tennis court to go to too and go for it! In an hour of playing tennis, you can BURN over 400 calories! We bring our son and he rides his bike around while we play or he hits tennis balls as well against the "practice wall" with his own racket. Great cardio and you use EVERY muscle!
Second way of getting a full body workout for FREE does involve waking up early again...sorry! Hiking! Look online for where most hiking trails are. If you're a beginner, don't get too excited and go for the biggest mountain there is and decide to try hiking for the first time...look for where most beginners like to go and try it. It's another great FULL BODY workout that gets you outside enjoying beautiful nature around you while working every muscle in your body.
Finally, once it cools down (which means drops to 90 degrees by 7pm if you live in AZ) in the evening, go for a long walk or head to an outdoor basketball court and shoot around with your kid(s) or friends. It's fun and actually gets the blood flowing. Don't like basketball (GASP!)??? Then grab a soccer ball and look for a grassy area to kick the ball around...next thing you know, you're running and smiling and burning some calories!
One last thing, if you are lucky enough to live in a beach city (oh Cali I miss you so!) then go for a walk along the beach and take in the waves crashing back and forth. Go to the pier and walk up and down the pier while watching the surfers. If you live close enough, ride your bike on the beach trail. When we lived in the OC, this was something that I now realize I took for granted because I didn't realize at the time how lucky I was to be so close to the beach that I could ride my bike from my house on the trail to Huntington Beach...those were the days! If you live in a beach city, then get on your bike or get those legs moving and walk!
Take the time today to do something for your health and fitness. Just because it's HOT outside doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to exercise and MAKE THE TIME. No one knows more than me what it's like to be busy...but you still make the time for fitness. You will be glad MENTALLY that you did and your family will be glad you did too!
Thanks as always for reading my blog and don't forget to follow me on twitter @FITDIVAFAMISHA if you want to stay on top of my upcoming bootcamps, more fitness tips, or overall "Famisha'isms" of the day. Have a beautiful fitness filled week!!

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
Good morning friends! It's another beautiful (but HOT already) morning with my workout complete and then off for another busy day of Summer fun...
Today's blog is a quick one...I know, shocker isn't it?! I just want to ask YOU, my blog friends...where do you see yourself in 10 years? The reason I ask this question is, I hear people make excuses all the time about why they can't find 10 MINUTES to get in some form of exercise every day. Well, I must admit, now that I fortunately run my own Personal Training/Bootcamp business, I don't really hear it anymore. But when I worked at the gym, the "I just don't have any time...I'm sooo busy...I have kids...I work LONG hours...etc, etc" was always overheard from gym members and other trainers clients making excuses as to why they only worked out ONCE that week (which was at their training appt with that trainer).
Here's the deal...trust me, I know what it's like to have a BUSY life. But if you have kids, where do you see yourself in 10 years? Attending their high school graduation? College graduation? Wedding? Traveling the world to celebrate a successful job of raising your kid(s)? If any of those examples ring a bell, let me just say...you need to be HEALTHY so you can be around to accomplish those goals.
If you don't have kid(s) but work a very high stressed job, do you see yourself possibly retiring in 10 years? Or at least traveling to places you always wanted to travel to because you want to celebrate the hard work over the years with treating yourself to fabulous vacations? If that's the case, you need to be HEALTHY to be able to do these things.
So I will leave you with this, GET UP and GET OUT today and MOVE! Exercise doesn't have to be a chore! My clients and bootcampers hear me say all the time, FITNESS IS FUN! Remember, as long as you're moving, you are doing something good for your heart. So go for a walk tonight...go for a walk around your building during lunch...take the stairs instead of the elevator...turn on the stereo and DANCE your heart out with your kid(s) today...who cares how you look if you're laughing, you're burning even MORE calories, but MOVE!
Thanks for taking the time to read today's blog. I hope you take a moment today to truly think about where you see yourself in 10 years and know that whatever and wherever that may be...you need to be HEALTHY to do it.
If you haven't had a chance to check out this month's June warm-ups that both myself and my son Pry'nce enjoy doing...go to Youtube and search for "Fitness is Fun with your kids!" or put my name Famisha in search and enjoy! UGH! HEARING YOUR BONES CRACK!!!
Good morning friends! Just finished a FABULOUS 90 minute workout and am feeling strong and ready to take on the day of fun with my son! I love starting my calorie burn flowing strong for the rest of the day after doing hard cardio and weight resistance training...if it "ain't burning....you ain't earning!" Okay, I know enough of my Famisha'isms which I have a lot of! I'll just get to the point of today's blog fitness question which one of my AWESOME blog followers has asked which is "I always hear my knees crack when I do squats and my elbows crack when I do bicep curls...am I doing damage?"
Well, let me tell you...if I could count how many times I hear my knees crack when I demonstrate exercises all day to my clients or even in this morning's intense workout when I was doing my FAVORITE lunges with bicep curls that number would be very high! Unfortunately, as we "mature" in life we start to feel those old days of being an athlete, dancer, cheerleader (which is also athletic), runner, etc...etc.. in various joints in our bodies whether it be in our knees or lower back, we feel it!
Now, if you don't feel pain except for the pain you feel in your head from the embarrassment of the LOUD crack a lacking of your knees, then NO WORRIES! You're fine! The best thing you can do for your joints are weight bearing exercises, ie: lifting weights and yoga. If you do feel a bit of a pull in your joints when you are doing squats, lunges, bicep curls, shoulder presses then I highly recommend taking a supplement. The one that I take religiously is Glucosamine Chondroitin...I like the one that has 1500mg of Glucosamine and 1200mg of Chondroitin. You definitely want to take 2 tablets a day and what Glucosamine Hydrochloride does is assist in the formation of tendons, ligaments, skin, bones, nails and muscles. The Chondroitin is a building block of cartilage and helps lubricate your joints.
So have NO FEAR...continue to do those squats, lunges and bicep curls because you will continue to gain LEAN MUSCLE MASS while tightening and toning your body! If you continuously hear that lovely cracking while doing it....then look for the Glucosamine Chondroitin supplement I recommended and your joints will thank you for it!
Now, let's get into today's video...today my son Pry'nce and I show you our favorite warm-ups for the month of June. If you don't have access to cardio equipment in your home but want to warm-up before doing some weight resistance training, check out our favorite warm-up ideas. If you enjoy watching it and want to see more, go to Youtube and search for "Fitness is Fun with your Kids!" or put in my name Famisha and the videos should pop up...enjoy!
