HELLOOOO NEW DECADE!!!!

Happy 2020 my Fitness Friends!!!  Wow!  It has been 4 years since I typed my last blog and to that I say, I'm sorry.  You know, I could easily tell you it's because my life is crazy busy being a MOM, Business Owner and Wife...but I won't.  Too many times, we fall into the "I'm too busy to workout because (fill in the blank).  Well, today my friends, I am here to say ENOUGH WITH THE EXCUSES!  We are in a new decade and it's time to start focusing on YOUR fitness goals.  Did you make a New Year's Resolution this year?  You know what I did?  I made a New Year's Resolution aka New Decade Resolution to stop putting so much pressure on myself to do EVERYTHING for everyone else while putting myself last.  If there's one thing I learned about 2019, the stress I put on myself to make sure I planned a perfect event last year without anyone else helping, took EVERY phone call that rang even if I had finally just sat down after training back to back clients and needed a "mental" moment to decompress.  Well, I almost made myself sick with trying to please everyone and be available at ALL times.  You know what I learned?  This year, I will not put pressure on myself or let myself be taken advantage of to do EVERYTHING because people know I'm competent and will get the job done.  If I haven't had anything to eat in 6 hours and I finally have a chance to grab a piece of fruit before returning that phone call or email...I will fuel my body FIRST, then take care of the call/email.  You know, I will say that the one thing that I never compromised was my WORKOUTS.  I knew that the one time that I had to myself in which I wasn't responsible for encouraging a client to EAT RIGHT, get through their workout and cheerlead them to victory or answer to "Mom, Mom, Mom!" was at 3:30 in the morning.  I knew that once I was into my workout getting the blood flowing at 4AM that I had that next hour until 5AM (my hubby would come down for his workout in our fitness studio right at 5...and still does) to focus on ME.  However, I came to realize that since clients know I'm up that early working out, they would start to text me during my workout time and you know what?  I would STOP my workout to respond.  Well, let me just say...I LOVE my clients but in 2020 if you text me during my workout time, you will not get a response until I'm having my breakfast before my first client.  I have decided to embrace my ME TIME and treat it as it's supposed to be ME TIME.  How about you?  How many times do you tell yourself "I'll start working out TOMORROW."  Then tomorrow comes and goes...START TODAY.  Find that time that works best for you and carve it out to mentally DE-STRESS, set the tone for your day or end your day strong...but it's all about YOU.  The great thing about having a Personal Trainer is that during your session time, it is about YOU and you only.  Your workout is customized for YOU.  Want to vent about work, spouse or maybe even kids?  I GOT YOU!!!  I truly feel blessed to be a LifeChanger and to have such great clients who have become FAMILY to me.  If you have thought about having a Personal Trainer but have been fearful of getting one, fear no more!  Look into getting one that works for you, your personality, fitness goals and schedule.  The great thing about training with me is, I have OVER 25 National Accredited Credentials, I've been a Master Personal Trainer for 20 years now, I train in the privacy of my home in my fitness space which is fully equipped with high end gym equipment, I'm a MOM so I can relate to that Mom Life and I absolutely LOVE what I get to do for a living!  So REACH OUT to me anytime if you are interested in getting a consultation and want to make a change for the positive and make fitness your LIFESTYLE.  I am here for you!!

So, now that I have just gone on and on...I have decided that for 2020 I am going to go back to doing a bi-weekly blog.  Shoot me any fitness related questions you may have and I will do my very best to answer it in my blogs.  Ladies and Gentlemen, we are in this game together...fitness game that is!  I will blog when my next TV Fitness segment is as well, so that you can make sure you either wake up with me LIVE or set your dvr so that you don't miss my latest fitness segment and I will also try to post it here on my blog too.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for welcoming me back to the world of blogging!  I might post on topics related to being a Mom to a BUSY, ACTIVE kid and how to still get in some time for YOURSELF.  I'll blog about a lot of different things, so stay tuned.  HAPPY 2020 and as always, Stay Fit and Happy!!!

HAPPY 2016 TO YOU!!!!

Good morning friends and most importantly HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  It is day 7 into the new year and I have decided to get back onto blogging at least ONCE a month.  Is that cool with you?  Hope so!  If I can help offer you tips, advice, "keeping it real" moments, etc to you on a monthly basis...then I'm good!

How is your 2016 going so far?  Like most people have you decided to make a resolution to "GET FIT?!"  Lose weight?!  Work out more?!  Eat healthier?!  Or all the above?!  Well, if so...good for you!  But some advice...ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!  Now, I have been in the fitness biz for almost 15 years (this April will mark 15 years that I have been CHANGING LIVES and TOUCHING SOULS) as a Certified Fitness Professional for 15 years.  In the industry, I have met and had the honor to work with 1000s, YES I said THOUSANDS of people thru either one of my many fitness classes (boot camp, hip hop and step) or thru one on one personal training, group training or buddy training.  There is one thing that remains CONSTANT...everyone starts off with a GOAL.  Saying your goal is easy...it's doing what it takes to reach it that makes it a bit tricky for most.

Here's my advice for YOU on Day 7 of this new, beautiful year of 2016:  Say to yourself EVERY morning when you wake up "Today, I am going to schedule in the time to do A, B or C."  If your goal is to WORKOUT today and you aren't already on a consistent schedule of doing so, then be REALISTIC.  Make today the day that you decide to carve out 10 MINUTES (yes, I said 10 minutes) to do 15 jumping jacks, 20 squats, 25 floor crunches, 50 mountain climbers and a 10 SECOND plank.  Rest and repeat 3-5 more times.  It's not much...but it's SOMETHING.  You will feel as though you have accomplished something that will get you one step CLOSER to your goal.

You see, fitness is a LIFESTYLE.  In order for you to continue with it and STICK WITH IT, you must start off with realistic goals for yourself.  Set an alarm on your phone (don't we all have at least an Iphone or Samsung...or whatever brand you choose?) and make it go off every 2 hours to remind you to drink WATER.  It will cleanse your system and probably make you go to the bathroom frequently...but also, clean out your system!  Now...next month, I will talk more about nutrition.  But this month I want you to know that YOU.CAN.DO.IT!!

I LOVE being a Certified Master Personal Trainer with over 22 accredited credentials because KNOWLEDGE IS KEY and so is the understanding that FITNESS IS A LIFESTYLE.  If you do have questions, feel free to post them here, like my business page on Facebook (Glisten Girls Fitness) and send me a message or follow me on Twitter (@FITDIVAFAMISHA).  In between changing lives and touching souls thru the power of fitness, I will get back to YOU!

If you are ready to try out a fun, high energy, high calorie burning workout...JOIN ME this Saturday, January 9th at my RESULTS Based Co-Ed Boot camp @7AM.  It's open to ALL Fitness Levels and it is at a very LOW cost of only $10 CASH.  You get the opportunity to train with me in a group environment around other people like yourself who are out to achieve their FITNESS GOAL as well.  It is located at Cosmo Park (2502 E. Ray Road) in Gilbert.  Bring a towel, water, yoga mat or beach towel...bring a friend or loved one too!  You will be glad you did!

Stop the EXCUSES today!  If it's cold outside...bundle up!  You will get your body warm, once you start moving!  Speaking of moving, it's time for me to head out to my favorite hot yoga class...

I hope you enjoyed my first post of 2016!  Feel free to post your comments or questions here or the other places I listed that you can reach me at.  Also, check out my website for more info at: www.glistengirlsfitness.com.

Make it a happy, healthy day friends!  Thanks so much for reading...I'm off to get my SWEAT ON!

Yummy ENERGY BITES

Good morning friends!  Happy "Thumbs up" Thursday!  I hope you are having a beautiful morning so far as you get your kid(s) up, ready, fed and out the door for another day of learning...get yourselves up and energized with a great workout or a great breakfast as you get ready to face yet another FABULOUS day of living.  However your morning is starting off, no matter what...CHOOSE YOUR MOOD.  Choose for today to be the day you do something for YOU.  Choose for today to be the day that you finally schedule in your workout because you know it will do wonders for your mind AND body...or choose to try a new recipe that is low in calories, yummy and will give you energy!

Today's blog will be a quick one.  I'm going to share with you my favorite recipe that is easy and quick to make that the whole family can enjoy.  Before I do so, I must first say that I can't take all the credit for this yummy treat.  One of my son's track team mate's Mom shared this with me and let me say, it is a WINNER in my household!  Are you ready???   Here you go!

NO-BAKE ENERGY BITES

1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup ground flax seed
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
*Combine oats, chocolate chips, flax seed, peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract together in a bowl; form into balls using your hands.  Arrange energy bites on a baking sheet and freeze until set, about 1 hour.
**121 calories, 4 fat g, 5 protein g, 10 carb g and ONLY 30mg Sodium per energy bite.

These treats are great as an after school snack, treat after dinner OR if you take the chocolate chips out, bring these to an all day track or all day sports tournament that your kid(s) may have to give them a good boost to their energy throughout the day.  My son and hubby LOVE IT when I make these!!

Well, it's time for me to head out to my favorite Hot Yoga practice.  Thanks as always for taking the time to read my blog and I hope you enjoy the recipe!  Be sure to get up and MOVE today!!

Make it a Happy, Healthy Day!  Namaste...

School is back in session...so it's time to follow the 3 F's! FOCUSED, FITNESS & FUN!

Good morning friends!!  It has been a LONG time since I blogged and to say it's been because I've been BUSY is an understatement.  I don't know about you, but my summer was a whirlwind of activity...running from track meet to track meet with my son, then off to Regional and National Jr Olympics with my son.  By the way, did I mention this was the FIRST season that my husband and I decided to finally listen to my Dad and get my son involved in Club Track through USATF?  Let's just say...this kid of mine is pretty darn good and can run FAST and jump FAR!  Well, the track season has finally come to an end after 8 months, school has started and now I'm back to just one practice a week for my kid (basketball), 90 minutes to 2 HOURS of homework assistance a night, changing my Clients lives and souls through the power of fitness 4 days a week along with Saturdays at my RESULTS based Boot camp AND....keeping up with my workouts.  Speaking of workouts, how have YOU been doing????  Are you too busy to get in a workout???  Too tired???  Not feeling motivated???  All the above?!  Well, get back on track friends!!

The best thing you can do for yourself and your family is carve out 5-10-15 minutes to an HOUR of "ME TIME" to de-stress from the craziness of your day.  If you don't have an hour to spend on working out, that's okay!  If you can take 5 minutes a day to do something for your Health and Fitness, it will do great things for your MIND, body and soul.  I know you're thinking "really Famisha?!  5 minutes???  That can't do anything for me!"  Sure it can!  Jump up right now and give me 30 squats, now follow that with 50 jumping jacks, 20 push ups, 30 tricep dips off of a chair, 30 floor crunches and a 30-60 second plank.  Guess what?!  You just revved up your metabolism, got your heart pumping and burned some calories.  You're feeling better and did something to get you one step CLOSER to your fitness goal!!

Don't be the person who sits around and says, 2016 will be the year I _________________(fill in the blank).  Start NOW!!  You are worth it!  If you live in the East Valley, feel free to join me this Saturday, August 29th at Cosmo Park (2502 E. Ray Road) in Gilbert at 6:15AM for my Co-Ed RESULTS based Boot camp.  It's open to ALL fitness levels.  All you need to bring is $10 CASH only, a towel, water and yoga mat or beach towel.  It is a lot of fun in a great atmosphere with a guarantee of a HIGH CAL BURN!

Next week, I will be back...I'm going to try and blog at least 2 times a month...and I will be sharing with all of you one of my FAVORITE, quick and yummy treats that both my hubby and son LOVE!  It's low in calories, low in fat, low in sodium and provides a ton of ENERGY.  So stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed my blog and will continue to read my thoughts of the day on "Thumbs up Thursday."  Feel free to send me any fitness related questions you may have and I will also post occasional links of my FOX-10 fitness segments along with my other television fitness segments.

It's time for me to get ready to head out soon for my 80 minute Hot Yoga practice...I wish you a very Happy, Healthy Day.  And remember the 3 F's...FOCUSED, FITNESS and FUN!  Thanks for reading!!

Namaste...

It's FEBRUARY...how's your New Year's Resolution going???

Greetings friends!  It has been quite some time since I've blogged and to say my life has been extremely BUSY lately is an understatement...but BUSY is good!  Today will be a quick blog.  I thought I'd check in to see how everyone's New Year's Resolution is going?  It's now February 5th, 2015 and since I own my own fitness studio in which I solely train Clients; I haven't seen how the gym scene looks.  From the 10 1/2 years that I did work in a commercial gym facility, I remember how CRAZY the first 2 weeks of January were and then by the 3rd week it started to taper off unless members were working with a Personal Trainer or were die hard "regulars" in their favorite Group X classes.  So how's it going for YOU?  Have you lost your Holiday weight gain?  Have you changed your eating habits?  It's quite simple really...PROPER FOOD INTAKE equals WEIGHT LOSS.  Watching your Sodium Intake equals a FLATTER STOMACH...along with WEIGHT LOSS.

If you found that you've lost your focus, motivation and frankly find it easier to go to the drive-thru for your favorite fatty foods, drink tons of soda that ruins your insides, alcohol NOT in moderation which creates empty calories, or constant snacking because you're "bored," GET IT TOGETHER!  If YOUR Fitness Goal is truly important to YOU...treat today as though it's JANUARY 1ST and start TODAY.  Believe in yourself!  You are better than your EXCUSES!  The feeling of Self-Accomplishment after a tough workout is such a FABULOUS feeling...so JUST DO IT!  Have a better ATTITUDE.  Smile because you are doing something TODAY to make yourself a happier, healthier person!

I am attaching a link to my last FOX-10 Phoenix fitness segment.  If you are looking for ideas on how to get a smaller waist line...tighter abs...stronger core, then check this out and do these exercises EVERY DAY.  Yep!  Everyday!  Enjoy!!  You can check out my LIVE fitness segment EVERY last Sunday of every month at 7:20AM on F0X-10 News.  If you don't live in Arizona, you can watch a live feed via their website.

Hope you enjoyed my segment!  Now JUMP UP (like I am in this picture ;-) and remember FITNESS IS FUN!  You have 24 hours in one day...take one of those hours or even 20-30 minutes to get one step closer to YOUR Fitness Goal!!  YOU.CAN.DO.IT!

I'm now going to get ready to head out to my Hot Yoga practice...so as always, thanks for reading...NAMASTE.

As Always...Stay Fit and Happy!
